Summary

Explore the human mind and understand the science behind how you and other people in your life think and act in a wide range of everyday situations with this brand new visual guide to applied psychology。

Using straightforward definitions and clear, striking visuals, The Psychology Handbook makes the workings of the brain easy to understand and shows what happens when things go wrong, with information on disorders such as anxiety and paranoia, as well as explanations of the different therapies that are used to treat them, from CBT to psychoanalysis, group therapy to art therapy。

Clear and easy to understand for both students and readers with a general interest, this book explores and explains the various approaches that psychologists use to study how people think and behave, such as behaviourism, cognitive psychology, and humanism。 It also shows how these approaches can be applied to real-world situations, with examples from the workplace to the sports field, the courtroom to the classroom。 Learn why psychology plays a huge role in all of our lives and develop a greater understanding of what influences our behaviour, thoughts and feelings, and those of others, in a variety of environments and scenarios。

More detailed than a Psychology 101 course I think。

It was a great experience to get a general overview of psychology and to realize how it works and what areas needed to be studied more in detail。 I strongly recommend this book to those who feels like all the knowledge has to be organized and interconnected in order to see a bigger picture。

Great introduction to psychology。 It starts with different theories and approaches to psychology and then gives short 2 page descriptions of psychological disorders, healing therapies and psychology in the real world。 Text is accompanied by beautiful and easy to understand visuals。

This books is absolutely amazing for anyone considering a career change to Psychology。 In a very simplistic and visual way, you get a grasp of the most important schools in Psychology, the main disciplines and where they actually fit in terms of organisations。

。。。more

I am genuinely happy a book like this exists。 Very worth it。 ;)

Book had a lot of good information in it。 Explained a lot about the brain and how useful it can be。 I enjoyed it and think it could be worth a read from you as well。

I picked this up just because I wanted a review of my college diploma and this book was great! I thought the visual cues were excellent and it was laid out in a manner that made it easy to follow。 It really had a lot of information in a short book, but it didn't feel like an overload。 Such a great choice if you want to learn the basics。 I picked this up just because I wanted a review of my college diploma and this book was great! 250 pages with a different section of psychology every 2 pages。 It gives a great overview of psychology as a whole from the history of it to how our brains actually function。 There’s also lots of useful information that you can use in your day to day life too。 The only thing this books lacks is detail as a lot of what it goes over can be fairly basic however that’s expected。 Overall a fairly easy (for a vast complex subject), interesting read。 I’d recommend it for anyone who’s always had in inte 250 pages with a different section of psychology every 2 pages。 It gives a great overview of psychology as a whole from the history of it to how our brains actually function。 There’s also lots of useful information that you can use in your day to day life too。 The only thing this books lacks is detail as a lot of what it goes over can be fairly basic however that’s expected。 Overall a fairly easy (for a vast complex subject), interesting read。 I’d recommend it for anyone who’s always had in interest in psychology and wants to understand how it actually works and manifests itself in our lives。 。。。more

I usually don't review games, books or films until I finish them but I will make this book an exception。 I finished around 40% of the book, here are my thoughts so far:- The book is great for people who aren't very knowledgeable about psychology or science in general。 The book has in-depth and complete explanations to various topics about psychology with the use of as less jargons as possible and it works! - The visual aids are really effective。- The book is neatly organized。Overall, this book s I usually don't review games, books or films until I finish them but I will make this book an exception。 I finished around 40% of the book, here are my thoughts so far:- The book is great for people who aren't very knowledgeable about psychology or science in general。 The book has in-depth and complete explanations to various topics about psychology with the use of as less jargons as possible and it works! - The visual aids are really effective。- The book is neatly organized。Overall, this book serves as a great way to start psychology for everyone! 。。。more

This book is great。 It stands with other DK books as being outstanding reference books。 This one was really good at breaking down all kinds of subjects in the field of psychology。 This is a great book for anyone who is interested in the way we think, as well as fantastic info-graphics。 There are many Psychologists referenced in the book that I have read, listed to, and/or have on my 'to-read' list。 There are endless statistics and studies mentioned as well。 Honestly, I can't say enough。 It's a g This book is great。 It stands with other DK books as being outstanding reference books。 This one was really good at breaking down all kinds of subjects in the field of psychology。 This is a great book for anyone who is interested in the way we think, as well as fantastic info-graphics。 There are many Psychologists referenced in the book that I have read, listed to, and/or have on my 'to-read' list。 There are endless statistics and studies mentioned as well。 Honestly, I can't say enough。 It's a great one to own。 I have to recommend this book to anyone, as most people will learn something from it that that he or she could take away。 。。。more

I checked this out from the library, but it's so good I may have to buy it。 I have a BA in Psychology and I still doing this book amazingly (and easily) informative。 It's accessible, and it's laid out so you can jump around if there's a particular question you want answered or interests you have within the field。 I checked this out from the library, but it's so good I may have to buy it。 I have a BA in Psychology and I still doing this book amazingly (and easily) informative。 It's accessible, and it's laid out so you can jump around if there's a particular question you want answered or interests you have within the field。 。。。more

This book provides an overview of psychology。 As with most DK books, this one is full of helpful diagrams along with the text。 The book started by providing a timeline for the history of psychology and describing how the brain, memory, and emotions work。 It then gave brief descriptions for 48 psychological disorders and 29 therapies used to heal these disorders。 It finished by describing how psychology is used in the real world, like in education, sports, the workplace, forensics, politics, and This book provides an overview of psychology。 As with most DK books, this one is full of helpful diagrams along with the text。 The book started by providing a timeline for the history of psychology and describing how the brain, memory, and emotions work。 It then gave brief descriptions for 48 psychological disorders and 29 therapies used to heal these disorders。 It finished by describing how psychology is used in the real world, like in education, sports, the workplace, forensics, politics, and so forth。 I found the book informative and interesting。I received a review copy of this book from the publisher through Amazon Vine。 。。。more
